Hubert M. Davis passed away at his home at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, surrounded by his family.
A long-time business man and resident of Moab, “Hub” Davis was born in Los Angeles, Calif. in October of 1929 to Herbert and Gladys Davis. For many years he owned and operated the famous Hole ‘N The Rock south of Moab.
He was an avid fisherman and very capable woodworker. As Hub spent time with his family, he would often spice up the gathering with his musical talent, singing and playing the piano, a harmonica, or strumming a ukulele.
He was also an honorable veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Seabees. The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks honored him with a lifetime membership.
It was a peaceful glide into God’s care, as family was by his bedside for his passing. He loved his family very much.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 10 at Sunset Memorial Cemetery. He was laid to rest next to his deceased wife, Frances Davis.
Hub Davis is survived by 10 sons and daughters, Steven Davis, Shelly Davis Jenocovich, Jeffrey Davis, James Davis, Marilyn Davis Shannon, Maria Davis Brox, Terry Nash, Alvin Nash, James Nash and Yvonne Nash Adams. He is also survived by more than 21 grandchildren and more than 35 great-grandchildren.
