Dixie Rae Leech quietly passed away on June 25, 2012. She was 85.
She was born in Moab and was a lifelong resident. She married her high school sweetheart, Ross Leech, on June 10, 1944, and remained married for 49 years until he preceded her in death in 1994.
Dixie was a dedicated wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother who always shared her talents, knowledge and love. She was a hard worker, who worked as the first director of the Grand County Senior Center for 14 years.
Dixie loved to knit, crochet, tole paint, craft, quilt, bake and sew.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Clarence and Ruby Tangreen; her son, Calvin Leech; her husband, Ross Leech; her brother, Andrew Tangreen; and her sister, Lenore McCoy.
She is survived by her son, Terry (Alex) Leech; her daughter, Sharren (Tom) Ossana; her grandchildren, James (Margo) Leech, Kelly (Siamak) Ghavidel, Kristin (Jack) Foy, and Julia (Buzz) Bates; and her great-grandchildren, Collin Saxton, Quincy, Chloe and Cameron, Morgan, Tia, and Jorre Bates, Melissa (Corey) Frandsen, Shane Uhaus, Keigh Quinn, Josh and Derek (Katie) Richardson. She has five great-great-grandchildren and one on the way. She also has three brothers, Kay, Wade and Doug Tangreen; and one sister, Eva Lou Wright.
The family wishes to extend its deepest gratitude to Dr. Jonas Munger, the staff at Canyonlands Care Center, Grand County Hospice, Moab First Ward Relief Society, Bishop Knutson and friends and family who comforted us in our time of sorrow.
