Larry Burton Wright, affectionately known as the “Hobbit”, passed away at Castle View Hospital in Price, Utah on July 26, 2016 after a short illness. Born in Price, Larry lived for many years along the creek in Moab. He was well known, and well liked, by many in the community.
Larry lived homeless while suffering from seizure disorder and increasingly debilitating dementia. Volunteers looked after him for years, making sure he took his medications properly, washing his clothing, and getting him good, fresh foods to eat. When his medical conditions worsened, he was sent to live in the Parkdale Care Center in Price.
Larry’s parents, Bessie Lucile Hurst and Wayne Scott Wright, passed on years ago, as did some of his seven sisters and brothers. He had a son, Mark Anthony Wright, who lives in Ephraim.
His stepmother, Verna Wright, along with Moab Solutions, is planning a celebration of his life. Details will be shared once a date is set.
