A Colorado man was killed in a motorcycle crash on state Route 128 on Saturday, March 4. Albert Hughes, 56, of Grand Junction, died at the scene after the Harley Davidson he was riding left the roadway at mile-marker 15, near the turnoff to the La Sal Mountain Loop Road, at approximately 3:30 p.m., according to a news release from the Utah Highway Patrol.
Investigators said that immediately following the crash Hughes was reportedly speaking to people who had witnessed the accident and stopped to help, but he later collapsed and was unresponsive when Grand County Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived at the scene a short time later. He was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 4:30 p.m., according to the UHP report.
Hughes was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Investigators said he “had a previous medical history that may have played a role in his death.” Hughes’ body was transported to the Utah Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy to determine the cause of death, officials said.
