Heather “Ho, Ho” Nieves was born on April 5, 1984 and passed away on Nov. 23, 2017.
When you look at the time span of her life, one might think that it was just starting. Yet, in her short life she conquered hurdles that most of us will never face or endure. Heather was a very strong, unique child. She was loved by many — and especially loved by her father, Robert Nieves, Jr. They had a very special bond that was beautiful and she had a very difficult time when he passed away when she was a child.
As she grew into adulthood she spent time finding her place and purpose in the world with grace and a smile.
After testing the waters with family in Washington and California, she eventually moved to Orlando to reunite with her mother and build a life of her own. She obtained her associates degree in science and became a licensed massage therapist in 2012; she loved her job and she liked making people feel better. While living in Orlando, Heather created an enormous network of friends that truly became her family. She enjoyed living in the warmth of Orlando and spending time being on the go. She loved comic-based movies, local festivals, music, the beach and truly anything that involved being with her Orlando family.
She was a caregiver through-and-through and always appreciated and cherished the love, big or small, that she was given. She was pure and genuine in her life. She had the ability to take her struggles in stride and handle them with a laugh and a smile. She didn’t hold people to their wrongs; she didn’t keep score and she gave everyone the benefit of the doubt. She had a giving personality that affected anyone who was fortunate enough to know her.
She was passionate about causes and injustices and spoke up for those who couldn’t. Truly, the only negative thing that any of her friends could think of was that she was a bit of a crazy driver. Heather had a huge heart and shared it freely. She loved her brothers and her mom deeply.
The world lost a beautiful soul and she will be greatly missed by many.
Heather is survived by her brothers Bobby Nieves, Steve Nieves, Roman Christensen, and her mother, Bonnie Christensen, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins — and her Orlando Family. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Nieves, Jr.
