San Juan County officials have identified a 15-year-old boy killed along Kane Creek on Friday, April 13 as Truette Rhoda of Idaho Falls. Rhoda was visiting Utah with family members, according to a news release by Grand County Emergency Medical Services.
Grand County EMS was paged to a severe motorcycle accident after 1 p.m. on Friday, according to the release and to EMS Director Andy Smith.
“Upon arrival the patient was in a critical status and being helped by off-duty medical providers,” the release said.
EMS and Classic Air Medical crews took over and provided care on scene and in the ambulance on the way to Moab Regional Hospital.
“Every possible life-saving intervention was attempted but ultimately was not successful as the patient did not survive. Our hearts are heavy tonight as we mourn for this family,” the news release states.
Friends set up a GoFundMe page at gofundme.com/truette-rhoda-fly-high-3 to assist the family with funeral expenses.
“[Rhoda] loved life and was a friend to everyone. Playing football, wrestling, and riding his dirt bike were some of his favorite things to do. Most of all he loved spending time with his family,” the page said.
