City passes revised sewer impact fees

At the May 22 meeting of the Moab City Council, the council passed a schedule adjustment for sewer impact fees. Impact fees are imposed on new or proposed developments to mitigate the impact those developments have on public utilities.

“City staff has found that there are a few limitations to the fee structure as it exists that has led to some confusion,” staff stated in the summary of the item presented in the city council packet.

The amended fee schedule establishes a minimum fee per customer type and increases the fee for all customer types by $41 per equivalent residential unit (ERU) for treatment and $31 per ERU for other agencies. ERU is a measure that indicates how much impact a use causes compared to a single-family residential unit.
