Bernadette D. Schroeter, 71, passed away June 18, 2018 in Cedar Park, Texas from complications from Alzheimer’s. She was born March 19, 1947 to Ray and Maxcine Lindstrom in Evergreen Park, Illinois. After graduating from Illinois State University, she met her husband, Walter Schroeter, in 1971 while teaching high school biology at Glenbard East High School outside Chicago. They were married in 1973.
Over the next 19 years they lived in the Chicago area, the Philippines, and Santa Rosa, in northern California before relocating to Moab in 1992. Along the way, Bernadette raised two children and continued to be involved in education, substitute teaching and developing science programs for the Santa Rosa schools. Bernadette loved to travel and did exhaustive work in family genealogy. Also, she participated in water aerobics, and played a role in the Moab Red Hat Society, among her activities over the 25 years in Moab before departing for Texas to be near family in 2017.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are her brother Richard (Daryl) – Middletown, MD, husband, Walter – Cedar Park, TX, daughter Wendy Walden (Matthew) – Leander, TX, son Robert (Anne Morrison) – Anchorage, AK three grandchildren, a cat, and numerous grandpets.
Bernadette always was cheerful, had a smile on her face with a good word for everyone. A positive outlook on life was always present. She loved the red rocks, blue sky, and the people in Moab.
