Around 8:16 on the morning of July 10, a vehicle heading west on Center Street veered off the road and hit two parked cars in front of the Grand County Courthouse. The driver was treated at Moab Regional Hospital and released shortly thereafter; criminal charges are still pending further investigation.
The car first hit a silver Toyota truck causing significant damage to the truck bed and undercarriage. The impact pushed the Toyota over the curb and onto the courthouse lawn. The first car’s momentum then carried it into a second parked vehicle.
Moab Police Chief Jim Winder was unable to definitively state the cause of the accident. Though it is still uncertain, preliminary investigation points to the driver experiencing a medical emergency as the reason for the wreck.
