Swimmers perform well in home meet

The Grand County Swim Team hosted a tri-meet with Millard and Hurricane on Friday, Nov. 30, at the Aquatic Center in Moab. The boys took second place and the Lady Red Devils placed third.

Kiersten Kimmerle took first in the 100-yard breaststroke for the girls.

As a team, Kimmerle, Neelie Relph, Izzy Becerra, and Grace Johnston placed second in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

The boys dominated the 100-yard freestyle; Braxten Pierce came in first, Corbin Arbon placed second, and Conner Ainge took third.

Arbon placed second in the 50-yard freestyle. Pat Pakkarato scored second in the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard breaststroke. Trayken Robertson placed third in the 100-yard backstroke.

In team events, the boys also did well. Pierce, Pakkarato, Alex Lacy, and Arbon won the 200-yard medley relay. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Pierce, Pakkarato, Ainge, and Arbon secured second out of the five-team field.

The swim team competed at Castle Dale on Tuesday, Dec. 4 for a tri-meet with North Summit and Emery. The Times-Independent B section was printed before the meet took place.
