County Council postpones vote on appeal of HB 224 ruling

The Grand County Council on Tuesday, Feb. 19 decided to postpone a vote on a request asking Grand County Attorney Christina Sloan to submit a notice of appeal of Judge Don Torgerson’s ruling on a lawsuit that involved the county’s change in government process.

The appeal would focus on section two of Torgerson’s decision, which blocked Kya Marienfeld from serving on the appointment council. See “HB 224: Judge rules in Grand County’s favor” in the Feb. 7 edition of The Times-Independent for a full explanation of the decision.

During its regular meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 19, the county council spent about one hour and 15 minutes in closed session discussing the possible litigation. After the session, the council voted unanimously to postpone the vote until 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26.
