Walking and stomping at local events
March 14, 6 p.m.: Grand County Library–A Walk Across Southern Utah. In 2017, Paul Magnanti spent 33 days walking across the width of southern Utah from the Nevada to the Colorado borders. During his journey of over 600 miles, he traveled through some of the most remote terrain in the continental United States. Magnanti will share the story of his journey through photos and tales from along the way.
March 16: Canyonlands Half Marathon and 5-Mile Run. The 43rd Annual Canyonlands Half Marathon and 5 Mile run is a scenic USATF-sanctioned and certified course that follows the Colorado River. (Highway 128 will be closed from 8 a.m. to noon.) Food, beer and live music will be available when awards are handed out downtown.
March 20, 6 p.m.: Grand County Library–Moab Poets & Writers Open Mic. Join in for an open mic session in partnership with the Moab Poets & Writers group. Share some writing of your own or come listen to local artists share their work. Light refreshments will be served.
March 23: Community Rebuilds Floor Stomp Party. This is an all-ages dance party at 476 Huntridge Dr. to tamp the adobe floors of the building currently underway. Dancing runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. but you can come and go as you please, organizers say.
March 23: Contra Dance, 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Moab Arts and Recreation Center, 111 E. 110 N. Celebrate spring at the contra dance! If you’ve never contra’d before, come to the beginners’ workshop at 7:30 p.m. to learn the moves. The dance starts at 8 p.m. No partner or experience needed.
