On April 17, a car went off the road near the Island in the Sky Visitors Center in Canyonlands National Park. A young girl was flown to Timpanogos Hospital with a serious head injury as a result of the crash, according to Grand County EMS.

The car, containing two children and two men all of whom were related, ended up 100 feet off the road, down a scree field. GCEMS said the cause of the crash is unknown and that the driver does not remember what happened.

GCEMS said the two adults sustained serious injuries and were taken to Moab Regional Hospital. One of the children was released with no injuries.

After the crash, the driver was entrapped in the vehicle, which required extrication by Moab Valley Fire Department.

GCEMS said National Park Service Rangers were the lead agency and incident commander.
