Police Chief Bret Edge’s salary will be roughly equivalent to that of former Moab Police Chief Michael Navarre, adjusting for inflation, and about 30% less than that of his predecessor Jim Winder.
According to the City of Moab, Edge’s starting annual salary as chief of police will be $99,500.
City Communications manager Lisa Church told The Times-Independent that Jim Winder’s annual salary from the city in 2018 was about $155,000. This is roughly the same as his income as sheriff of Salt Lake County in 2016, according to public records.
Navarre’s income in 2016 before he left the police force the next year was about $90,000, according to the city.
Edge is a 13-year department veteran. Winder is returning to the Wasatch Front, where he will lead a team of investigators for the Salt Lake County District Attorney.
