At roughly 5 p.m. on Friday, March 17, police responded to a hotel in Moab on a report of “a suspicious male getting into a truck,” according to a police report. Police later arrested the man for trespassing and allegedly found he was carrying paraphernalia containing methamphetamine and marijuana.
When police arrived at the scene, they found the man inside the truck. When police asked the man whose truck it was, he asked, “What vehicle?” and told police he “did not know how he got into the vehicle,” according to the report.
Police contacted the person who rented the vehicle, who told police that it had nothing stolen from it and that it should have been locked.
Police then took the man to jail. They advised him that if he went into the jail with drugs on him, he would face an enhanced drug charge. The man told police he “did not know what was in his pockets,” according to the report. Police again explained to him the situation.
The man went into the jail with police, at which time they searched him and found paraphernalia that tested positive for methamphetamine and a partially smoked joint that tested positive for marijuana.
