Moab City Police stayed busy this Memorial Day weekend, making 70 traffic stops, responding to five traffic accidents and reporting two DUIs. Police also spent 10.5 extra hours patrolling known problem areas in town.
Among the other incidents to which police responded, a woman told officers that a driver had parked unwanted on a private driveway. The woman said she was a health nurse for the elderly owner of the home where the car was parked. The woman said the homeowner did not know whose car it was.
Moab officers ran the plate information and attempted to leave a voice message with the driver, but the number’s voicemail system was full.
Since the car was on private property, and the property owner would have had to cover the cost of towing, the officers offered instead to write a note and place it on the windshield.
As an officer was drafting the letter, the woman came out of the house and told the officer that the property owner had since remembered giving permission to the vehicle owner to park in the driveway.
