The public is invited to attend a public open house regarding management of the Colorado and Green rivers. The Grand County event is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. June 25 at the Grand Center, 182 North and 500 West. An open house in San Juan County is the same time one day earlier at the San Juan County Administration Building, 117 South Main Street in Monticello.
According to Gretchen Semerad, an environmental scientist with SWCA Environmental Consultants, the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands has developed the first draft comprehensive management plans for state-owned, sovereign land sections of the Colorado and Green rivers, and updated the existing Mineral Leasing Plan for these sovereign lands. During the month of June, FFSL will seek formal comment on the draft plans at open house meetings in each county that contains state-owned sovereign land sections of the rivers. The formal comment period extends from May 31 to July 19.
The draft CMPs and MLP are available for review here: http://bit.ly/GreenColoradoRiversPlans
Those who cannot attend a meeting in person can make comments via the project website. Visit http://bit.ly/gcrcmp for more details.
