Hot wheels on the highway

The Moab Valley Fire Department responded to a semi-truck fire on Highway 191 just past the Highway 313 junction – the road to Dead Horse Point State Park – Thursday afternoon, June 20.

Fire Chief TJ Brewer said the cause remains unknown, but he suspected the blaze started due to hot brakes or a blown tire.

The driver was able to separate the truck from the trailer. Brewer said she was hauling highly flammable rolls of polystyrene, which were burning by the time firefighters arrived to find the trailer “fully involved.” Traffic was delayed for only a short while.
