Events on tap for the week ahead:
July 4: Come celebrate Independence Day during daylong festivities at the park at 400 North and 100 West on Thursday, July 4. The fireworks show begins at about 10 p.m. and the display will be viewable from the park. Sponsored by Grand County, the City of Moab and the Grand County Recreation District, the show will be choreographed to a playlist on KCYN, 97.1.
July 5: The Moab Free Concert Series kicks off with former New York Dolls front man Aaron Lee Tasjan from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Swanny City Park. Beer and wine will be available for sale at this free event.

July 8-12: This La Sal Mountain Explorer Base Camp is for students in fifth through seventh grade. Join the Canyonlands Field Institute and learn about wildlife, go fishing and enjoy other fun activities. Call 435-259-7750 for more information.
July 8-12: Arty Farty Kids Summer Camp, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Moab Arts and Recreation Center. A new theme will be explored each week.
July 11: This week’s lecture sponsored by the Canyonlands Natural History Association and Moab Museum features Randall Irmis: Moab Before the Dinosaurs: Life on a Coastal Desert 300 Million Years Ago; 6 p.m. at the Moab Information Center, Main and Center streets.
