State officials tour Utah; residents have opportunity to take task with tax reform

One of the more important public meetings of the year takes place at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 20, when the Utah Legislature’s Revenue Restructure Task Force comes to the Grand Center for a town hall meeting at 1 p.m.

According to the task force, members are traveling throughout Utah on a statewide listening tour to hear suggestions, concerns and receive input from constituents, local officials, business owners, stakeholders, community leaders and any who want to be involved in the process to review ways to best address the state’s outdated tax structure.

The town hall meeting begins at 1 p.m. with an open house that will allow attendees to learn about the issue, the process and to ask questions. At 2 p.m., members will present the challenges the state budget is facing and attendees will have the opportunity to provide input.

A sign-up sheet for public comment will be available. Additionally, an informational website is available with an online form for the public to comment and provide feedback throughout the process at StrongerFutures.utah.gov. Another contact is Aundrea Peterson at 801-791-3365, or at [email protected].

The town hall meeting will be live streamed on le.utah.gov, barring technical difficulties.
