    School start date delayed to Aug. 26

    Moab Charter School

    As crews complete construction at the Moab Charter School, Director Carrie Ann Marinelli said that the school staff is “very excited about our new main building and art/music classroom.” The construction has delayed the school’s Sneak-a-Peek event, which gives students and parents an opportunity to see the classrooms and meet teachers before school begins, but Marinelli said that the event would be rescheduled.

    The charter school operates on almost the same calendar as the rest of Grand County School District; details on the calendar are available on the charter school’s website,

    Registration is currently open at the charter school; parents can email Madeline Wright at for information about class availability. The first day of school is Aug. 26. The school will host Sneak-a-Peek on Aug 22 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. to let students and parents see what is going on at the school and to meet new teachers.

    The school will host a back-to-school night and ice cream social on Sept. 5, where there will also be a ribbon-cutting event for the new art and music classroom. To support its arts and music programming, the charter school will also run the concessions stand at the Moab Music Festival Old City Park Concert on Labor Day, Sept. 2.
