Vandals shatter backboard at park

Local law enforcement agencies seek the public’s help. Sometime Monday an unknown person or persons threw multiple rocks through the glass backboard at the Rotary Park basketball court. The backboard is completely shattered, and there are shards of glass all over the court and in the area around the court.

“We’re not sure what the backboard did to so anger them that they felt the need to destroy it. Maybe they tried to dunk and got denied? But seriously, this type of vandalism affects many in the community who enjoy the basketball court. Our parks department is working to replace the backboard, but it could be a couple of weeks or more before that happens,” said a statement from the Moab Police Department.

If you have any information that may assist police officers as they investigate this act of vandalism, call 435-259-8938 or send a message through social media.
