Injury occurred night before team’s first game of the season

During a football practice on Thursday, Aug. 15, a Grand County High School Red Devils player was injured during play and taken off the field in an ambulance.

According to public posts on Facebook, the injured player was Jayminn Hester, but high school staff could not verify the player’s identity due to federal regulations regarding the privacy of personal health information.

School district staff said that the player suffered a bruised spinal cord but were unsure whether he was still hospitalized as of Friday morning and whether he would be available to play in the team’s first game of the season later that day.

The Red Devils face off at home against the Morgan High School Trojans at 7:00 p.m.
