Tickets are available for the Sixth Annual Dancing with the Moab Stars, what organizers call “The most fun and amazing fundraiser of the year,” Sept. 13.
“Come see our local celebrities try to dance their way into first place,” said Bradia Holmes, the center’s volunteer coordinator. The dancing starts at 7 p.m. at the Grand County High School auditorium. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Holmes offered an update on the center’s busy summer. “Looking back, it would probably be easier to list the things we didn’t do this summer. But then we couldn’t share the success with all of you,” she wrote in an email.
The center has been nothing if not collaborative. Holmes said it partnered with 213 organizations, including local law enforcement, which provided training on driver privilege cards; the Mexican Consulate in Salt Lake City regarding outreach to the Moab community; UServe, Utah’s “listening tour” for nonprofits that look for best practices in training volunteers; and a drive that yielded 87 backpacks for local schoolchildren the center undertook with Spanish Valley Pest Control, Moab Regional Hospital, the Episcopal Church of St. Francis and various members of the Faith-based Coalition.
“We want to send a special shout-out to our volunteers, donors and partners,” said Holmes. “Without you, we wouldn’t have been able to do all of the above. You made our summer amazing. We hope yours was, as well.”
Tickets are $13 in advance or $15 at the door and are available at the Multicultural Center, 156 North 100 West and Back of Beyond Books, 83 North Main Street.
