Motorists heading south on Highway 191 should expect delays roughly three miles south of Hole ”N the Rock between mileposts 107-109.
Blasting began early Wednesday, Sept. 18 and work will continue Monday through Thursday for the foreseeable future, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.
The two-mile road improvement project will require regular road closures for blasting – which will only occur before 8 a.m. and after 5:30 p.m. – and prompt full road closures for up to 45 minutes, and possibly an additional 45 minutes once the road reopens to a single lane of traffic with alternating traffic.
Other delays between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. could be up to 20 minutes.
UDOT said the “project aims to improve recovery for vehicles that wander from the travel lanes by excavating into existing rock cuts and upgrading barrier to new standards or removing barrier where slopes can be leveled.”
