According to Police Chief Bret Edge and Moab Valley Fire Chief T.J. Brewer, a tractor-trailer that caught fire at about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, Sept. 25, had two wheels explode because of heat, causing two explosions audible at nearby residences.

Grand County dispatch called Moab firefighters to the scene at 3:43 a.m. on Wednesday and called again four minutes later. The semi-truck stopped near Wendy’s on Main Street and left burn marks on the road and sidewalk that were still visible later in the day.
