The Grand County cross-country teams did well in the Carbon Invitational Sept. 18 at the Carbon County Golf Course in Helper.
Kylah Ricks took first place in the varsity girls three-mile race in 19:06.4. Jessie Anderson placed ninth for the Red Devils with a 21:35.0 run time. The girls team landed in fifth place overall out of 10 competing schools.
Malachi Ricks zoomed to a second-place finish in the varsity boys three-mile contest in 16:26.8. Daniel Thayer landed in the 47th spot with 20:42.9 out of a field of about 160 runners in the junior varsity boys three-mile race.
