Green River fire chief dies in car accident

Green River Fire Department Fire Chief Philip Engleman died Sunday, Sept. 29, in a car accident after crossing over the centerline and striking two tractor trailers.

The crash occurred near mile marker 294 on Highway 6, about nine miles northwest of Green River.

The Moab Valley Fire Department posted its condolences in a Facebook post on Monday.

“Our deepest condolences for the loss of Green River Fire Chief Philip Engleman,” read the post. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and the Green River Fire Department.”

The Department of Public Safety said that neither of the truckers were injured in the collision.
