Debate team excels at ‘Bonanza’

The Grand County High Speech and Debate team season started well Oct. 4-5 at the University of Utah’s Beehive Bonanza. Head coach Carrie Strecker said seniors Emma Millis and Ty Martinez finaled in Congressional Debate. Junior Jack Charlton placed fourth in Novice Informative behind sophomore Chessadie Garfield and Elana Ross, who placed second and third, respectively.

“The team looks forward to a great season,” said Strecker. The team will host the Mock Congress fundraiser in tandem with the League of Women Voters on Nov. 4 at the Moab Arts & Recreation Center.
