Runners finish strong ahead of region race at Carbon

The Red Devils cross-country team struck silver and gold at the Timpview Invitational on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at Kiwanis Park in Provo.

Malachi Ricks took first place in the varsity boys three-mile race in 16:00.2, which was about 27 seconds faster than his last 3M race in Carbon. Evan Ellison came in second with 16:03.8, just about 14 seconds better than his run time in the Moab Invitational. The boys team was fifth overall out of 12 competing schools.

Kylah Ricks won second place in the varsity girls three-mile race in 18:19.8, which was approximately 47 seconds better than her finish at the Carbon Invitational, nearly a month ago.

The team is scheduled to participate in the Region XII Championship meet, in Carbon on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
