From 5 pm. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, Moab Regional Hospital staff will give away hot cocoa and cookies during the light parade in celebration of the holiday season. The hospital has been sponsoring the Cocoa Cottage annually for many decades and is proud to be partnering with the Moab Chamber of Commerce once again, said spokesperson Christy Calvin in an email.
The hospital’s Cocoa Cottage tradition has been around since the turn of the century, starting with Allen Memorial Hospital, and now includes cookies in addition to cocoa.
Vicki Gigliotti, chief clinical officer at Moab Regional Hospital, has many fond memories of the numerous Cocoa Cottages she has participated in over the many years she has worked at both Allen Memorial and Moab Regional hospitals, said Calvin.
“Cocoa Cottage is magical,” she said. “It’s so much fun to see how surprised kids and adults are to get free cocoa and cookies from the hospital. The light parade and Cocoa Cottage really kick off the holiday season and the hospital is happy to be a part of this fantastic community event.”
The hospital also has a float this year promoting good oral hygiene. Look for skating tooth fairy elves handing out free toothbrushes and toothpaste to spectators.
