Sheriff identifies pair killed in fall Nov. 29 at Delicate Arch

Two people died after falling near Delicate Arch in Arches National Park early in the morning Nov. 29. They have been identified as Torrance, California residents Toshiaki Amimoto, 65, and 60-year-old Etoko Amimoto, according to the Grand County Sheriff’s Office.

A third person, 30, survived the fall. The man sustained serious injuries and is believed to be a relative of the Amimotos.

According to GCSO, the family was walking in cold, wet and snowy weather in a steep slope area near Delicate Arch in a sandstone bowl at about 7:45 a.m. on the morning after Thanksgiving.
