My name is Julia Crane, and I’m a senior planning on graduating from Grand County High School.

As one phase of education is drawing to a close, many more opportunities open. I was, and still am, very involved in extracurricular programs during my high school career.

A few include varsity tennis team, swim team, color guard co-captain in the marching band, yearbook staff, acting in the school musical, golf team, science Olympiad team, student government, youth council president, and a few others. I have had many leadership positions in my short lifetime and love working with and around many different people.

My main goal for working at The Times-Independent as an intern is for my place as a Sterling Scholar candidate. But another motivator is my love for writing. I love English and hope to major in it when I go to college. I hope that through this internship I can gain more experience in the writing world, along with getting familiar about the editing and publishing process.

A few other tidbits: I love animals but sadly only have a pet rabbit and fish. A large family encompasses most of my time, but I wouldn’t want it any other way. I’m applying to Southern Utah University, Utah State, and BYU: Provo, Idaho, and Hawaii. I hope to attend one of them next fall before serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
