Snow sticks as cold weather persists
This rock monolith is one of the Three Penguins in Arches National Park, with its two friends standing behind it from this view. They stand together in the snow after holiday storms blanketed the area.
The penguins form one of the park’s popular set of climbing routes, positioned next to the the switchbacks at the entrance of the park. Cold temperatures have kept the snow from melting, and have contributed to an inversion over lower valleys on the Colorado Plateau.
