A Moab man was charged with felony assault after he allegedly choked a woman and repeatedly punched in the face a man who intervened.
According to an affidavit of probable cause written by a Moab Police officer, Morgan Shepherd choked the woman for reasons that are unclear.
A man who was downstairs at the Emma Street apartment heard the couple fighting and ordered them to leave. The woman apologized and left, but Shepherd and the man fought, with Shepherd, according to police, repeatedly striking the man.
Shepherd was arrested and two marijuana joints were reportedly found in his pack of cigarettes during the booking process.
Shepherd was arrested on a felony charge of aggravated assault and misdemeanor charges of assault, and possession of a controlled substance within a correctional facility.
