Two men fighting over a cell phone landed one of them in jail after he allegedly pointed a handgun at the head of his adversary.
Christopher Allan Maneotis, 31, faces a felony charge of aggravated assault and misdemeanor counts of DUI and carrying a dangerous weapon while under the influence.
The incident Saturday played out in the parking lot of the Virginian Motel on 200 South. Officers responded to a “vehicle crash and robbery in progress” call. The officer in his report said he learned Maneotis has pointed a handgun at the head of a man whose cell phone he had taken.
While the men were arguing, Maneotis allegedly hit the gas and drove his truck over a two-foot barrier, displacing the front axle and breaking the wheels on the passenger side.
He reportedly admitted to driving the vehicle and he and the other man allegedly admitted to drinking alcohol.
Maneotis also volunteered he had “smoked some weed,” said the officer.
