The 2019 Kokopelli Relay kicked off early Friday morning, June 7, at the Grand County High School parking lot. The race ended at Unity Park on Saturday, June 8, in St. George.
Cowboys and cowgirls from Utah, Wyoming, Nevada, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Washington, Oregon, Kansas and Arizona had fun showing off their skills at the Canyonlands PRCA Rodeo over the weekend.

The 2019 Sixth Grade Step Up Assembly was held on May 30 at HMK Elementary School. More than 120 students begin middle school next school year. Hiroshi Burriola, Elisabeth Knight, Aracely Medina, and Maggie Wilkowske had perfect attendance from kindergarten through the sixth grade and each received a Mongoose bicycle courtesy of Crump-Reese Auto. HMK Principal Ms. Kay encouraged the students to change the world and make it a better place through acts of kindness. The Grand County Middle School held an awards and promotion ceremony May 30 in the Grand County Middle School gym. The eighth grade choir sang “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perry and the band played “Comet Ride” composed by Brian Balmages. Eighth-graders Hailey Dowd, Jesse Gomez, Maggie Gorene, Natalie Haase, Willow Nichols, Lillian Scott, Seneca Tatera, Anja Thomas and Megan Zunich achieved a 4.0 GPA this year. Seven seniors participated in Grand County High School’s inaugural collegiate signing ceremony on Tuesday, May 21 in the Grand County High School commons. The students received letters of intent and secured roster positions in their chosen athletic and academic fields.
The Grand County High track and field team finished second in the 3A Region at the Utah High School state championships held May 16-18, at Brigham Young University in Provo.
Boys on bikes, an inspirational speech and an homage to classic heavy metal were all part of the Grand County High School 2019 Talent Show on Wednesday, May 15 in the Grand County High School auditorium.
The Grand County track and field team finished second at the 2019 Region 15 Championship Tournament on Tuesday, May 7 and Wednesday, May 8, in Manti.
Chris Raybould, director of Grand County middle and high school band programs, conducted his final performance on Monday, May 13 in the Grand County High School auditorium.
The Sounds Grand Choir sang familiar songs from cinematic favorites on Monday, May 6 in the Grand County High School Auditorium.
The Lady Red Devils golf team took third place in the UHSAA 3A State Tournament on May 7-8 at Round Valley Golf Course, in Morgan.
