The 43rd annual Canyonlands Half Marathon and Five Mile Run fell on a chilly Saturday morning, March 16, perfect running weather for the 1,638 runners – including a woman from Aurora, Colorado who carried a baby on her back.
The Lady Red Devils varsity softball team celebrated its first home game of the season with a 5-3 win over the Emery Spartans on Tuesday, March 12. The weather was dreary, soggy, and chilly, but a sizable crowd turned out for the game.
The Red Devils dominated their own tourney when they hosted the Red Rocks Invitational Track and Field Tournament on Saturday, Mar. 9 at Grand County High. Carbon, Mancos, Emery, Montezuma-Cortez, San Juan, Monticello, and Green River participated in the meet. The boys team took first place out of the eight competing schools and the girls finished third out of eight.
The Lady Red Devils golf team took second place in the first golf tournament of the spring season on Wednesday, March 6 at the Moab Golf Club. San Juan, Richfield, Manti, South Sevier, Emery, and North Sanpete golfers also participated in the tournament.
