The Grand County High track and field team finished second in the 3A Region at the Utah High School state championships held May 16-18, at Brigham Young University in Provo.
The Grand County track and field team finished second at the 2019 Region 15 Championship Tournament on Tuesday, May 7 and Wednesday, May 8, in Manti.
The Lady Red Devils golf team took third place in the UHSAA 3A State Tournament on May 7-8 at Round Valley Golf Course, in Morgan.
The Grand County High tennis team’s season ended on a disappointing note May 9-11 at the State 3A Championships at Liberty State Park in Salt Lake City.
The Lady Red Devils softball team played well but came up short in the UHSAA 3A State Championship on Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11, in Spanish Fork.
The Grand County Track and Field team finished high in the huge Mr. Mac/BYU Invite on Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4, at Brigham Young University in Provo. Over 100 schools from Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho 1A-6A divisions participated in the tournament.
The Grand County boys tennis team hosted the Region 15 Championship on Thursday, May 2 and Friday, May 3, in Moab. The team finished fourth in the tournament that included Richfield, Manti, South Sevier, North Sanpete and San Juan. Manti won the tournament. Every Red Devil who played in the championship qualified for state.
The Red Devils soccer team beat the Carbon Dinos 3-1 in the first round of the Region15 playoffs, at home on Wednesday, May 1, but the South Summit Wildcats ended their season three days later in a double overtime thriller.
The Red Devils won a trip to the state tournament in convincing fashion after playing host to the first round of UHSAA softball finals on Saturday, May 4, at Grand County High School. Manti, Delta, Morgan, South Sevier and Grand County all vied for a chance to move on to the next round of playoffs.
Red Devils golfer Joopy Bamrungmuang shot an 87 at the Region 15 Championship held April 29 at the Carbon Country Club, good enough for a fifth place finish. Bamrungmuang stands in sixth place in the region ahead of the state championship, which was played Tuesday and Wednesday, May 7-8, after The Times-Independent B section was printed.
Two losses to start the 3A playoffs ended the Red Devils baseball team’s season Saturday, May 4 in Juab, where they lost to the Juab Wasps in a lopsided game that ended 1-11 and a much closer 2-3 contest to the Emery Spartans.
The Grand County boys soccer team didn’t miss a beat after a long spring break, shutting out their final two regular season opponents before heading into the postseason undefeated in region.
