How young is the Red Devil girls basketball team? There was not a single senior to honor at the final game of the regular season. The 1-19 2019-2020 campaign was a rough one for the team, but they came to play every game and made steady improvement as the season progressed.
The Grand County boys basketball team ended a disappointing regular season with two losses. The Red Devils lost 79-99 to rival San Juan on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at San Juan High School. The Broncos took the first three quarters 26-14, 22-20 and 29-20. Grand took the fourth 25-22, but it was far too little too late.
The Grand County Drill Team finished the competitive season at the USHAA State Championship recently at Utah Valley University, in Orem.
The Grand County girl’s basketball team lost to the Carbon Dinos 18-83 on Tuesday, Jan. 28 at Carbon High School. Josalyn Murphy made nine points. Madison Munger, Marguerite Groene, Megan Zunich, and Tenney Cook all picked up two points. Rylee Behunin hit a free throw.
A big opening quarter for the opponent proved too much to overcome for the Grand County boy’s basketball team, which lost to the Carbon Dinos 61-79, on Wednesday, Jan. 29, at home. The Dinos churned out a 31-11 lead in the first quarter. The Red Devils clawed back and took the second 17-12, but the Red Devils were still down 28-43 at half time.
