As the spring season rolls on, visitor centers at Arches and Canyonlands national parks began extended hours of operation earlier this week, according to a statement from the Southeast Utah Group of National Parks.
On April 17, a car went off the road near the Island in the Sky Visitors Center in Canyonlands National Park. A young girl was flown to Timpanogos Hospital with a serious head injury as a result of the crash, according to Grand County EMS.
What began as a missing person report ended tragically last week when the body of Jonathon Hogue was found at the base of the Green River Overlook in the Island in the Sky District of Canyonlands National Park.
The arrival of spring also brings extended hours of operation or reopening for Arches and Canyonlands national parks’ visitor centers, according to an announcement from the National Park Service.
