For starters, you have an illegal number of people sitting on our city council. It is supposed to be three people max and you have seven, so anything you pass should be illegal, as well.
Rep. Mike McKell (R-Spanish Valley) attempted to pass his bill that would have banned bans on plastic bags, preempting rules passed in Moab and Park City.
After attempting to get his bill to the floor of the Utah House of Representatives, Rep. Mike McKell (R-Spanish Fork) was jeered by his colleagues in the Utah Legislature who were opposed to his bill, H.B. 320, which would have preempted local bans on the use of plastic bags in Park City and Moab.
Moab only recently implemented its plastic bag ban, but a new bill could soon bring that restriction out of compliance with state code. The Utah Legislature is considering a bill that would prevent cities from regulating “auxiliary containers,” including plastic bags.
